Jesus said in John 8:32 that the truth will set you free. Well, here are a few truths that might sting at first, but once you dry your eyes and laugh a little, they will actually set you free to relax and live a more satisfying life.
Let’s face it, since the Garden of Eden, human nature has been a bit self-centered. The majority of the world does not care if you rescue kittens or if you remember your spouse's birthday. Society is made up of people who need things: money, food, comfort, entertainment, and solutions to their problems.

If you do not provide a solution to one of those needs, you are going to hear crickets. As a person, your job is to serve. Think of it as washing someone's feet. Develop skills, products, or services that genuinely help people. When you focus on serving their needs, the respect and recognition will naturally follow.
Many people fall into the trap of thinking the universe is either conspiring to make them rich or actively plotting their downfall. But the truth is, God is for you, but the market is completely indifferent. You are one person sharing a planet with about 8 billion others.

By the way, the original version of this article claimed there are 50 birds for every person on earth. I checked this fact for you! According to Smithsonian Magazine, there are actually about 50 billion wild birds, which averages out to about 6 birds per person. So, you are outnumbered by pigeons, too, but not quite by 50 to 1!
The point is, the market is not against you. That is actually great news! It means you are responsible for your own results. Pray for guidance, but remember that faith without works is dead. Put your hands to the plow.
God blessed you with a family, but Aunt Sally is not going to code your landing page at 2 AM. You need to be able to manage your time, pay your bills, and learn the technical skills to keep yourself afloat. Your loved ones will not always be available to bail you out when you hit a snag. Sometimes, you just have to figure out how to drive yourself to the airport. Rely on God as your ultimate provider, and roll up your own sleeves.

This might be the hardest lesson of all, whether in marriage, friendships, or dealing with difficult people. You might find a person who is almost perfect, and you think, "I can fix them!" Spoiler alert: You cannot. Only the Holy Spirit changes hearts.

Think about how hard it is to change yourself. We can barely stick to a New Year's resolution to stop eating donuts, yet we think we can overhaul someone else's personality? Add in the fact that people naturally resist being controlled, and you have zero chance. Give people grace. Accept them as they are, adjust your expectations, and save yourself a lot of disappointment.
Proverbs 24:16 says that a righteous person falls seven times and rises again. Expect to experience a few flops before you get the results you want. The only way to completely avoid failure is to sit on the couch and never try, which is a guaranteed recipe for zero success. Even Peter sank when he tried walking on water, but hey, at least he got out of the boat!

Learn to deal with failure with a sense of humor. It is just an undesirable result, not a reflection of your worth in God's eyes. Do not take it personally. Adjust your strategy, pray for wisdom, and try again.
So, what is the real truth about the world? You are responsible for your own earthly success more than you might realize. But fortunately, God has put you in the driver's seat of your business, and He is riding shotgun. Now go out there and overdeliver!
